Getting on the Ballot
In Virginia, as in every state, democracy has its unique processes. For those of us with aspirations to serve our communities by running for U.S. Congress, the first critical step is making it onto the ballot.
In Virginia, as in every state, democracy has its unique processes. For those of us with aspirations to serve our communities by running for U.S. Congress, the first critical step is making it onto the ballot. To make that happen, Virginia requires, 1000 signatures of registered voters within the district.
Those signatures must be gathered on a very specific form and then notarized to ensure the person gathering the signature actually gathered them. That is where the difficulty lies; I can't gather the names online via digital signatures; they must sign in person.
I've gathered quite a few already, but I need help to finish it up. I need volunteers to help me walk the district and ask for signatures. It is a little imposing at first, but that quickly wears off.
Willing to Help?
To those willing and able, I ask you to join me in gathering these crucial signatures so we can meet (and surpass) this requirement together.
