Bodily Autonomy

Bodily Autonomy and a person has full control over their own body

At the heart of my beliefs lies the conviction that each individual’s body is their own, and they have the right to decide what happens to it.

If something is within a person’s body, they should have full control over it. Once it’s outside their body, that control no longer applies.

This core principle guides my stance on bodily autonomy and fundamental rights.

A Person’s Right to Control Their Body

I believe that bodily autonomy is a basic human right, which means:

  • Opposition to the Death Penalty: The state should not have the power to take a person’s life, no matter the crime. A person’s right to life should remain inviolable.
  • Support for Informed Assisted Suicide: Individuals should have the right to make informed decisions about their own lives, including when they are suffering from terminal illness or in unbearable pain.
  • A Woman’s Right to Choose: Women must have the right to decide whether to continue or terminate a pregnancy. The decision is deeply personal, and the government should not interfere in this choice.
  • Opposition to Mandated Sterilization: Forced sterilization is a violation of a person’s autonomy. Every person should have the freedom to decide whether or not to have children, without coercion from the government or other authorities.

Expanding Access to Care

As part of my commitment to bodily autonomy, I am finalizing policies to ensure that all individuals have access to critical healthcare services. This includes free mammograms, ultrasounds, and other essential health screenings whenever anyone wants or needs them.

Here is how we can pay for it:

The brevity of this issue page does not reflect any lesser importance or passion for this cause. As a 32-year-old white male, I recognize that it’s not my place to dictate what others should do with their bodies. If elected, my role is to support and protect this fundamental right, ensuring every individual’s autonomy is respected.
